Summary

The two most important political speeches of this last period in Italy - that of the President of the Republic Giorgio Napolitano, and that of the Prime Minister Enrico Letta - have called attention to democracy, and have touched the theme of the role of Internet in the participation of the people in politics. The article starts with these two discourses and focuses on the concept of democracy, its fundamental elements, and its role in the Internet to express popular desire. Finally, the article evidences the importance of education to democracy and its fundamental dimensions.

I due discorsi politici più importanti di questo ultimo periodo in Italia - del Presidente della Repubblica Napolitano e del Presidente del Consiglio Letta - hanno richiamato l’attenzione sulla democrazia e hanno toccato anche il tema del ruolo della Rete nella partecipazione politica del popolo. L’articolo, prendendo spunto da questi discorsi, si sofferma sul concetto di democrazia, sui suoi elementi fondamentali e sul ruolo della Rete nell’espressione della volontà popolare. Evidenzia, infine, l’importanza dell’educazione alla democrazia e le sue dimensioni.
